Using FileSystemObjec t in VB.NET

I'm trying to write a little VB.NET script in an ASP.NET web page that will
create folders, move files, etc... pretty much everything you can expect to
do using the FileSystemObjec t library.

Is this possible in .NET?

If so, how do I do it?

I've tried:

Dim fso as new system.io.files ystemobject, but filesystemobjec t doesn't show
up in the Intellisense, nor does it work. I've included the scrunn.dll in
my project, but still no dice.

I'd rather not do the whole Server.CreateOb ject("FileSyste mObject") method,
because then I lose the intellisense in my development environment... but if
you can point me to a good list of methods and properties, that might be the
way I have to go.

Thanks so much for your help,

Look in System.IO

I think System.IO.Direc tory and System.IO.File should handle most of what
you need...

Look into using System.IO.Direc toryInfo
The FileSystemObjec t doesn't exist in .Net

You might want to look into using System.IO.Drive Info,
System.IO.Direc tory, and other classes in System.IO.

I'm pulling my hair out over this one. I've got a web page that I need to have write to another server across the network. The site in question does NOT run in anonymous mode, that is, the user is presented with a username/password box when they view the page. No matter what I do, when the page attempts to access the remote server, I get a Permission Denied error. I have tried the suggestion from this page: ...

Hi, I've got a freebie hosting mirror of my production personal website (sounds kinda grandiose, doesn't it?) at http://journeys.webhostme.com/. At the production website I was using Scripting.FileSystemObject to get the date that the file was last modified and to read/write a counter text file for the number of hits that the whole site had. The freebie has a kind of half-ass*d FileSystemObject, but it has no GetFile method. Is there...

Hi all, If I create a FileSystemObject Object is it appropriate to reuse it to perform operations on different files/folders? Or should I create a new FileSystemObject Object for each file and folder? -- Sean.

Hi, I am automating Access reports to PDF using PDF Writer 6.0. I've created a DTS package to run the reports and schedule a job to run this DTS package. If I PC Anywhere into the server on where the job is running, the job runs sucessfully, PDF files got generated, everything is good. If I scheduled the job to run at the time that I am not logged into the server, Access is not able to print to the printer. The error is pretty...

I'm trying to set up a simple guestbook script on my ASP-based site. The code is not working and is not throwing errors, and I suspect it is because the FileSystemObject is not liking the relative pathname I gave it. (using IIS on Windows 2000 Terminal server) this code is intended to display the text from the file: MyFile = "./guestbooks/file.txt"

Hi there, I am writing a web app using asp.net 1.1 and C#. This web app is launched in another win32 application and this app needs to pass information to my web app. But this win32 application doesn't support long string(Maximum 255), which gives me problem passing information longer than 255 through querystring. So I have to use an intermedia plain file and in my web app, using Scripting.FileSystemObject to open the file and read the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
