I'm creating a custom control (inherited from UserControl) that is displayed
by other controls on the form. I would like for the control to disappear
when the user clicks outside my control the same way a menu does. To do
this my control needs to get notified when the user tried to click off of
it. The Leave and LostFocus events of the UserControl work most of the time
but not always. For example, if they click on a part of the form...

Hi,
I have a Form with many UserControls on it. Some of the UserControls contain
other Controls.
What is the best way of notifying each of the nested controls about an event
that has occured on one of them?
Are there any mechanisms for broadcasting messages down the owning chain?

In my user contol I am creating a set of dropdownlists.
Each list is created based on input from the other lists.
The problem I am having is setting the selected index on
the lists.
If someone changes box1, I want to set the selected index in
box2 = 0. When I do this, I dont get an error, but when the
page loads, it still has the selected value and not 0.
It seems that it is getting the selected value from the viewstate

The design of my app is such that I have a main form which loads a
variety of user controls. Sometimes these controls will contain their
own constituent sub-controls.
The main form should respond to changes in the constituent controls,
either by showing/hiding menus, or updating status bar text.
Currently I'm rippling up events through the usercontrols back to the
main form. This is proving more and more cumbersome. In VB6, I could...

For some reason, when I click the X to close my MDI parent form, the action
appears to be re-directed to one of the MDI child forms, and the parent
remains open. I am then unable to close the application.
What should happen, is that the main MDI form should close, taking the child
forms with it. There is code to loop through the child forms, remove the
controls on each of them, and then close the form, but this code should
execute only...

For some time now I have been struggling trying to understand how to handle
events originating in a User Control that I have designed when using this in
an application. Basically I need to respond to button clicks in my user
control. I have struggled trying to understand Delegates, aqnd m still
struggling. I then came across the following tutorial on MSDN and thought I
had 'cracked it'

Group,
I'm using Visual Studio 2003 to create an ASP.NET 1.1 project which
contains nested server user controls in order to create a tree-like
hierarchy.
The tree is a sort of question and answer dialog. The user answers a
question, and the next subquestion appears (using dynamic html
display:none|block) depending on his answer.

On my page, I have one repeater that contains a literal control and a nested
repeater. The nested repeater contains a literal control. Both repeaters
are databound with only one object (string). But... and this is the crappy
part, the nested repeater's events are fired twice. How do I know this? I
setup global private counter variables that get incremented on the repeater's
ItemDataBound event. The outer repeater is correct and only...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
