Unexpected page designer behavior

I'm trying to lay out an ASP.NET page in VS 2003.

Is it normal that controls can't be positioned inside of a panel control in
grid design view?

Whenever I try to move anything around it stays centered at the top of the

Hi all, To repro the problem I am having: 1. Create a class that derives from System.Windows.Forms.Form 2. Add some controls such as buttons and labels (wherever you want). The default values must be set appropriately. 3. Add some public properties to the form that directly adjust the exposed private Control properties: public class BaseForm : Form {

Hi, I am following along an example from the book <b>Beginning Visual Web Programming in C#</b> My environment is this: IIS 5.1 on XP Pro, I have the checkbox 'use windows integrated authentication' unchecked, and I am allowing anonymous access. Prior to building the example that is giving the error, the app would ask you to login if you weren't already logged in by redirecting you to the login

I'm developing in VS.NET 2002 and I'm having trouble working around the issue with page inheritance and the VS.NET Form Designer. When I create a base class for my form, and inherit from it, I can no longer bring up the inherited form in the designer. I get the error "The file failed to load in the Web form designer. please correct the following error, then load it again : Type Abstract" Apparently, others have experienced this problem...

I've created a page ancestry (framework) for our application so that all pages in our app would have the same look and feel. To do this, I created several user controls (header, footer, menu, etc.) and then a C# class which inherits from System.Web.UI.Page. In the OnInit() method of this class, I dynamically load these user controls using the 'this.Controls.AddAt()' method (as well as call the base.OnInit() method to load the objects from...

I am writing a control that prints any datagrid. My control gets passed a datagrid object and examines it, formats, and prints it. I am, however, encountering what I consider unexpected behavior of the grid.... The grid is named dgBudgets. In the page Load event I fill the dataset and bind dgBudgets. I store dgBudgets in Session("myGrid"). In response to the click event of the PrintMe button I pass

In C# (and C++/cli) the destructor will be called even if an exception is thrown in the constructor. IMHO, this is unexpected behavior that can lead to an invalid system state. So beware! http://www.geocities.com/jeff_louie/oop30.htm Regards, Jeff *** Sent via Developersdex http://www.developersdex.com ***

I was wondering if anyone else had come across this "feature" of .NET and if they had any idea what might be causing it. I've been writing my first C# Windows application (so if there's anything so appalling in my code that it gives experienced developers a touch of the vapours, I hope you'll be indulgent!) I've written my own code to handle unexpected exceptions and I've added this as the handler to Application.ThreadException. It all...

Hi, I have a custom form that works fine when I debug it or run it in release mode but cannot be loaded in the designer... Actually, it can be loaded in the designer when no control is on it, but the resizing tool (in the designer) is offset both horizontally and vertically and when I put a control on it, as soon as I save, the designer throws an exception (but cannot be reproduced everytime) and the form cannot be loaded anymore unless...

Hi all, I am experiencing a strange thing happening with a "designer.vb" page. Controls I manually declare in this page are automatically deleted after I drop another control on a ".aspx" page. - Why is this happening? - Can I disable automatic declaration and have everything be declared manually? - Any other options to fix this? Thanks in advance. Goran Djuranovic

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
