Hi all,
I am dynamically loading user controls after a postback. Within the User
Control, how do I check if it is being loaded for the first time?
With a regular ASPX page I can check If Not Page.IsPostback , however, since
these controls are loaded AFTER postback, this won't work.
I tried using Viewstate, but since I'm swapping multiple controls, I'll
need to manage the Viewstate variable... and that makes it troublesome.
Is there any property to check to see if a User Control is being loaded for
the first time?
Thanks!

PROBLEM:
When a user control is loaded into a PlaceHolder control more than once, the
events do not fire on the first click of a control on the dynamically loaded
user control. In other words, the first time the control is dynamically
loaded, everything works fine. After that, if the control is loaded again
from the page button event handler, the user controls events fail to fire on
the first click
NOTE: I (believe I) am rebuilding all...

Hey everyone,
I am curious what the performance impact of a custom control would be if it
had a significant hierarchy of children. For example, 40 child controls, 5
levels deep, each control on average has 20 properties. What would be the
best way to implement such a thing?
The book I am reading uses templated controls and basically reconstructs the
entire hierarchy everytime page is accessed based on the tags in the .aspx
file, but...

Hi,
been a while since I posted a question myself instead of trying to help
others out.
I'm refactoring an existing web app that uses dynamic loading of user
controls and a lot of response.redirects to the same page. Because I hate
the overhead by doing this I'm searching for a cleaner option.
But I'm having troubles (off course or I wouldn't be posting this).

Hello,
I'm having rather a problem with user control. It is a fairly simple
affair (see my other threads for more details) that shows a date and
time in five drop down controls.
I had private member variables for the day, month, year, hour and
minute, and the public property that sets the DateTime simply stored the
relevant numbers in these variables.

I have a web form with a button and a placeholder, the button adds a user
control to the placeholder (and removes any existing controls). The user
control contains a single button. I have done all the usual stuff of
recreating the usercontrol in the Page Init event.
The 'failure' sequence is as follows:
- select web form button to display the user control
- select user control button, event fires
- select web form button to display...

I have a user control that contains 2 image buttons, when you click one of
them, both must change the image source, the thing is that the first time
you click any one of them the page appears to do a postbak, but the image
source or the image displayed does not change until I click one of the
images a second time, why dows it take 2 clicks for the user to "refresh"?
TIA!

Howdy,
I have a user control that is a report to display data. On the page the
control is inserted in, I have filter options to filter the report. When I
try to do something like this, nothing happens.
dim filt as string
... build filter string...
UserControl.ReportFilter = filt

Hi,
I am strugling with a simple problem which I can't seem to resolve.
I have an asp.net page which contains a server-control (flytreeview,
which is a kind
of a tree to be exact).
The tree is being updated by some other process through remoting.
When the page loads, I init the tree, and in my browser I can see the
initialized tree.
The problem is that every time that I receive update to tree from the
remote process,

Hallo,
I have a radiobuttonlist control that is added on a custom Web User Control.
This control has a property that exposes the SelectedIndex property of the
embedded radiobuttonlist.
When running this in IE, behaviour is as I would expect it. If I select an
item and do a postback, the page remembers my selection when reloading, and
the SelectedIndex property of my control returns the correct value.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
