Win2k3, IIS6, ASP.Net - Server Application Unavailable

Hi,

I've got 2 web servers. I've installed my web app on both Win2K3 machines.
It works on one and not the other. I noticed that server which has the
problem didn't have ASP.NET installed, nor did it have the right web
extentions in IIS6. But it still doesn't work after correcting these.

I've tried the MSDN solution which is to change processMode/username to
SYSTEM instead of machine (in the machine.config file) but that didn't help
either.

I've searched the entire internet for a solution, and nothing at all.

The error i get is:

Server Application Unavailable
The web application you are attempting to access on this web server is
currently unavailable. Please hit the "Refresh" button in your web browser
to retry your request.
Administrator Note: An error message detailing the cause of this specific
request failure can be found in the application event log of the web server.
Please review this log entry to discover what caused this error to occur.

SOMEBODY HELP ME PLEASE!!! I'm very desperate - deadline is looming!!

Have you tried putting the app in its own Application Pool ?

No, but I need a straight forward solution, not a workaround, because these
servers are going to be live environment servers. I'd rather reinstall
everything than work around the problem.

I only suggested in the event that you were
mixing 1.1 and 2.0 apps on the development server.

They need to be in separate app pools to be able to run,
if you're running both 1.1 and 2.0 apps on a server.

That error message is indicative of that.

If you're not running 1.1 and 2.0 apps, we'll have to look for something else.

All right, I have read every forum, newsgroup etc about this issue and no one seems to know how to fix it. I am getting a "Server Application Unavailable" exception running my .NET 1.1 application. I use W2K SP4 and have applied the hot Fix KB824146 and KB824105, both IE fixes. I don't have VS installed because this is a Quality Environment. I do have .NET SDK and .NET 1.1 Runtime installed. I can't change my APSNET user to run as...

I have an application that communicates with the Company's Active Directory to get the OU of the users. This said application is an ASP.Net web site and has the Windows Authentication enabled. . Now, here's the anomaly: If the application is run on a Server using IIS 5.1, the application works like a charm and the communcation with the Active Directory occurs without any problem.

Yes, I wasted the past two days trying to fix this. Yes, this is on a Win2003 Server. Yes, this machine is a domain controller. Yes, I seen the dozens of KB articles like this one: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q315158 But the problem is that 99% of these are for ASP .NET 1.x and this is .NET 2.x which I just installed to try and get .net working for the first time ever. I've see all the HACKS to get .net 1.x...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers.
