Dear ASP.NET Programmers,
I have a web user control (a search menu) which has 2 validation controls
(one for input and another for the search criterion). I am including this
search user control in ever page in my application. In pages with validation
controls, both the validation controls in the web user control and the
normal form page are both enabled and I would like to know how to seperate
them? I want to the 2 validation controls to...

I am very new to .NET and am in the process of building my first web
application.
I will briefly describe what i am trying to achieve:
I have a system where suppliers register their details, their locations, and
then add themselves to categories. Each category requires additional info
from the suppliers, this additional category info is stored in its own DB
table. a suppliers may add themselves to as many categories as required....

I've noticed that none of the child controls events are firing for the first time from the dynamic user control. Here is the event cycle.
1) MainPage_load
2) User control1_Load
user clicks a dropdown in UC1

I have a user control as my Save button for my page. When the Save button is
clicked, I want some client-side validation to take place from a javascript
function in the page, and then I'd like the server event to fire to update
the database. I've successfully done this with a normal webcontrol via:
myControl.Attributes("onclick") = "javascript:alert('You clicked me!!');"
In that case, myControl is an asp:button on the page.
In the...

I have a web form with a button and a placeholder, the button adds a user
control to the placeholder (and removes any existing controls). The user
control contains a single button. I have done all the usual stuff of
recreating the usercontrol in the Page Init event.
The 'failure' sequence is as follows:
- select web form button to display the user control
- select user control button, event fires
- select web form button to display...

Hi,
I have a page with 4 web user controls on.
Each of these web user controls has some asp.net controls on that have
validation events attached to them.
Now because there are 4 seperate users controls I have 4 seperate validation
summaries, what I would like is to have only a single validation summary at
the top of the page, ie not in any user controls.

I have a ASPX page that loads a custom control. This first custom
control is made up of 2 textboxes and a Submit button. The user enters
data into the form, presses the Submit button and the ASPX page should
either load a new custom control during the postback or (if validation
fails) reload the first custom control. I've attached some validation
controls without a problem but the client-side validation doesn't seem
to be working...even in...

Hi,
In my ASP.NET 2.0 web app, I have a user control, ucBinEdges, with several
text boxes. The user control has several validation controls validating the
Text of these text boxes - CompareValidator, RangeValidator,
RequiredFieldValidator, and a ValidationSummary. The page using ucBinEdges
is a content page working in conjunction with a master page. The master page
defines two ContentPlaceHolders: cphLeftNav and cphReportContent. ...

I am coming at the world from the standpoint of a veteran ASP Classic
developer. I am not clear on the advantages of using the ASP.NET control
over standard HTML control.
With the ASP.NET controls the rendered names are changed and I appear to be
limited in what javascript events I can fire. I also can not seem to figure
out how to setup a onsubmit() event.
With standard HTML I can setup any javascript event I want and the names...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
