Hi to all.
I have two Impersonation problems:
1. When using my app. from a remote computer,
the aspx page is unable to get information from Active Directory.
I am using Impersonation, and the Impersonated user is logged to the domain.
When I'm doing the same, logged as the same user, but on the server
computer,
it works.
2. When using Impersonation and setting the user name and password in the
web.config
file, the aspx page is able to access files on a file server.
But when user name and password are not in the web.config file,
and I am logged in as the same user, access is denied.
What am i missing here?
Thanks.

| unless you are using basic or kerboros, impersonated accounts cannot

1 hop getting to iis.

same rules as above. if you fill in a domain username and password,
asp.net can access remote resources

Thanks Bruce.
I thought the problems are related.
So i need to forward the impersonated account to the file server / active
directory.
Do you know how it's done?
Sharon.

HI there,
I am developing a client side app which requires me to launch another
program when a user clicks a button on a web page. I thought I'd create
an asp.net page (using c# ) to accomplish this. After much research I
found that it's not that simple. The asp process runs under an aspnet
user, which does not let me launch my program. I ran accross some code
that is supposed to impersonate the logged in user, but I get the
following...

Hello:
When I try to access a SQL server or a network share from an ASP.Net
application that I run on my computer, I run into security problems (for
instance, I cannot execute DTS package using Trusted connection or get a
file information using FileInfo class). This is probably because my
application is running under PETER\ASPNET account, where PETER is my
computer's name. I can solve this problem by using Impersonation.
However, when...

Hi
Am having a problem with an app I wrote to test patch delivery. I
contact a remote PC, and get it to run a patch which is installed on a
server. It works fine if I use psexec for example and I know it's not
NTFS/share-level security at fault - it's readable to everyone which
is usually enough for scheduler or any other usually-not-network-user
to reach it.
I've checked my credentials in my remote session and it says it's

Howdy All,
I've been having a bit of a problem that I can't seem to get a grip on
at the moment and I'm hoping someone may be able to give me a quick
hand :)
What I have is a Webservice that references an EXE file sitting in
c:\windows\system32\ . Now if I use a Windows App and access the
webservice everything goes smoothly.

I am having some issues, when I try to launch another process using
Process.Start(ProcessStartInfo psi) on win xp sp2 box (Other versions
of xp have no issue).
Here is the detail.
Main app checks for updates on startup and if updates are available, it
launches separate exe to copy files.
Before launching new process(exe), I am impersonating admin user as
main app is being launched by non-admin user.

Hi,
I've got an ASP.NET Web-Application written in C#.
In IIS 6.0 (Windows Server 2003) I have set the application to allow
anonymous access, but instead of the default user I use an own
windows-user account. That account does not have too much rights (just
access to the application directory and the windows\Microsoft.Net
directory). In Web.config I have also set
<identity impersonate="true" userName=<myUser> password=<myPWD>/>

Hello
On our asp.net 2.0 website we impersonate every request to the identity of
the user logged in. This works this way:
1. user logs in, providing username, password
2. user is authenticated against an active directory and the windows
identity is retrieved (and stored in the session!!)
3. user is impersonated using the windows identity (thread is now
running under the identity of the user)

I have a custom control that is embedded (using the object tag) in an html document.
The control takes a path to a local client ini file.
Reads the file.
Executes the program specified in the ini on the client's PC.
After the program has ended the control looks in a client side temp folder (specified by the ini file) for an image created by the executed program.
If the image is there, then the control moves the file to a public folder...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
