How to: Simulate "TreeView" Control

I need to simulate a TreeView control in my asp.net application. It's not
necessary to actually show the + and - symbols, and lines that connect the
varying levels. All i need is to be able to show a primary listing w/
multiple columns, and then a sub-listing w/ multiple columns and rows.

I have seen some basic show/hide functions on the web, basically using DHTML
to show and hide layers, however, i need a more robust control (if there is
one) that i can bind data to from a database.

If anyone has any experience or ideas in doing this, whatever feedback would
be very appreciated.

Thanks,

I'm looking at building an application that needs to display 4 levels of hierarchical data. Initially the obvious choice for this would seem to be the treeview control. After searching this newsgroup I've found that there is a lot of opinion that says to stay away from the treeview if at all possible due to lack of documentation and distribution problems. Added to this, I've never used it before and don't need a new learning curve at the...

I have been using a label with the TreeView control - to simulate the ghost image of a node during drag/drop (so that a ghost of the node appears to be floating next to the cursor on a drag/drop). This works peachy when I had a form that used the TreeView control (from Microsoft). The time came that I needed to change the TreeView - so I created a control that inherited from the TreeView class.

I have created a treeview for my app that on MainFormLoad I have it get the list of drives with GetLogicalDrives() and populate the tree, then when I click the drive it adds the first level of folders on that drive, then click a folder and it adds the next level of folders under the first, and so on. That part works perfectly with one flaw. but here is the flaw: When I add the next sub node it adds the entire path to the Node.Text the...

I would like to implement the following functionality: When a user taps a (child) treeNode, an event fires which allows me to get the selected treeNode's TAG object, determine it's values, and then load a new form based on those values... Intellisense shows the "Click" event, however, this does nothing. (I assume it's not supported in .Net CF?) I see via Design Mode in VS 2003 that the only feasible event is "AfterSelected". This,...

Hi There! I'm using VB.NET to create a TreeView application and unfortunately I could not find "Key" property in Node items of the TreeView. We used to have "Key" property in TreeView node object in VB6. What is the equivalent of "Key" property of TreeView node in VB.NET? Has the property name "Key" has been changed to something else? Or VB.NET does not support the "Key" property anymore? If so what are the alternatives?

Hi, Is there a way to tab text in a TreeView node--so as to simulate more than one column? I've tried putting vbTab and ControlChars.Tab in the node's text, and all that shows up is a little rectangle character. Thanks, Nathan

Hi, I'm current having a problem with the treeview control and multi threading. The treeview is on a form. A request is then sent to a server using IP for the data. The data arrives in an event on a different thread. I have used delegates to allow me to add to the treeview and it all works fine. I cant however seem to set the "SelectedNode" property or the treeview. I have tried directly and also using a delegate. I all cases, the UI...

Hello! How can I realize, that when the Cursor is over an TreeNode, that the TreeNode will be underlined. I think the code must be in the "TreeNodeDataBound" Event, or? Regards Steve

I have a C# WinForms treeview with 20 or so 'level 0' nodes. My users will normally have 2 of the 'level 0' branches open down to a '5th level' selected node. The users will make updates to the 2 selected nodes that will alter the node name. I think I need to rebuild the TreeView to get everything synchronized after they click an update button.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
