I am running IIS6 on a Win2k3 server.
I have an ASP.Net app (C#) that a user logs into and then I use
LogonUser to validate them and log them onto the server. I have
Windows Authentication ONLY checked on the site in IIS.
My problem is that eventhough I am using LogonUser to log on to the
server as the user, I am still getting the...

I tried on the Security newgroup, as well as other places, and haven't
gotten an answer yet - - I'm pulling my hair out over this one.
I'm trying to get Forms Authentication working.....I can get any requested
page to automatically go to the Login.aspx page, AND, the ReturnURL
querystring is correct in the address bar, but no matter what, I...

Hi,
I've created a little site for my sports club. In the root folder there are
pages that are viewable by every anonymous user but at a certain subfolder
my administration pages should be protected by forms authentication.
When I create forms authentication at root level it works but when I move my
code up to the subfolder I get this...

Hi,
After I gave up on tracking user sessions through the session object
(Session_OnEnd is still not triggered by Abandon() even with mode=InProc and
me manipulating session variables; in a new test project it is only
triggered the first time, it really sucks pretty bad) I started looking at
alternatives and I found FormsAuthentication. I...

Dear fellow ASP.NET programmer,
I stared using forms authentication and temporarily used a <credentials> tag
in web.config. After I got it working I realized this wasn't really
practical. I cannot write to web.config so I cannot dynamically update the
credentials while the site is up. Since the
FormsAuthentication.Authenticate() method's...

Hi,
Is there a way of requiring a log in for individual asp.net pages rather
than securing a entire directory. I have a web app where there are 100+
pages but only 2 need to be password protected. I am currently using forms
authentication to block the entire folder:
<authentication mode="Forms">
<forms name=".MYCOOKIE"...

Hi,
I have stumbled across an interesting problem regarding forms
authentication over multiple sub domains. The topic has been covered in
various forms online but never really gets a definitive answer as to
why it happens.
I have two separate web apps sat on different sub domains of the same
company realm. eg:

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...

I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in...
