LoadViewState not firing / fired in ASP.NET 2.0

J.
Hello,

I'm trying to override the LoadViewState-method of a simple page using
the .NET Framework 2.0. However, the LoadViewState-method in the code
below never gets executed. The SaveViewState-method gets executed on
every page request as described in
http://msdn.microsoft.com/asp.net/wh.../internals.asp

Can anyone pinpoint the problem? (Or am I just a dumbass?)

<%@ Page Language="C#" %>
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd">
<script runat="server">
protected override void LoadViewState(o bject savedState)
{
Trace.Write("Te sting LoadViewState.. .");
base.LoadViewSt ate(savedState) ;
}

protected override object SaveViewState()
{
Trace.Write("Te sting SaveViewState.. .");
return base.SaveViewSt ate();
}
</script>
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" >
<head runat="server">
<title>Untitl ed Page</title>
</head>
<body>
<form id="form1" runat="server">
<div>
<asp:Button ID="Button1" Runat="server" Text="Button" />
</div>
</form>
</body>
</html>

I am having difficulty in diagnosing this problem and was throwing it out for some other eyes. I have derived my own Page class from System.Web.UI.Page and have overridden the LoadViewState method. I derive all of my application pages from my own Page. For some reason on two of my pages the LoadViewState derived method is not firing and thus not setting up some of my controls on the page. On the other 240 ish pages, the...

Does anyone know of an issue with a control's viewstate not persisting when dynamically adding custom controls to a web form using AddAt? If a control is added to an HTML form directly using the HtmlForm's AddAt method (per the below code segment), then LoadViewState is never fired for the control, even if SaveViewState, which is fired, saves to the control's ViewState. However, if Add is used instead of AddAt, LoadViewState is called...

Again, I'm rather new here, so if I fail to follow any etiquette, please forgive me and let me know what I've done wrong, but I think this might interest quite a few people. One of my colleaques was endeavoring to create a custom user control to make things a bit simpler, but she noticed that her Page_Load eventhandler was firing twice. So after long hours of research and experimentation, I stumbled upon, imho, is quite the discovery. ...

Is there a way in vb.net to delay the firing of certain code till after everything else has run? That is, I have an event with some code in it that needs to run AFTER everything else has run when the form is loaded. Is there a mechanism in vb.net that will allow the call of an event only after everthing else has fired and run?

I had it happen again today that I needed some code to run upon loading the form but the code that I needed to have run needed to run AFTER all the rest of Visual Studio's events had fired. Due to the fact that the Visual Studio events continued to fire after I ran my code, it goofed things up. Isn't there any way to fix it so that the code you want to run upon startup of a form is insured to run only after VS has fired all it's events?

In case you are creating your own control dynamically and need to re-create them on LoadViewState, only to discover that this function is not being called by the framework, reason and solution is this: The LoadViewState function is called by the framework only when the viewstate object is not null (pretty reasonable). In the above scenario, SaveViewState might not need to save anything in the viewstate object, leaving the...

I am using a GridView inside a UserControl which has a template column for deleting the rows. Before databinding the gridview i am attaching the RowCommand and RowDataBound event. I am using the RowDataBound event to set the commandargument of the delete button. The event is being fired and works fine. When I press the delete button, the RowCommand event is not firing! and neither is the RowDeleting (the button's commandName is...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
