Using a Web Setup to deploy to a server with multiple sites

If your web server host multiple sites, is your only deployment choice
is XCOPY? Or can you create a web setup to deploy your web app? Every
time I use a web setup in installs to the same virtual directory. Is
this normal or can it be fixed? Thanks

If you right click on the installer and View->User Interface you can
add a dialog for "Installati on Address"
This should be what you're looking for I think

Hi fellows, I have two simple questions regarding the Framework's deploy and the Setup and Deploy Projects: 1. As I've read in another posts and newsgroups (and as I can imagine), VS.NET IDE isn't capable of create a setup and deploy project and, in a elegant way, during the setup process, detect the absence of the Framework. In this case, I'd like to run the Dotnetredist.exe file, first, and the

Situation: I have to connect with my Windows 2000 server using VS.NET 2003 and C# and connect to a remote Linux server at another company's office and query their XML file. Their file may be updated every hour or so. How can I do this easily? I would like to use secure communication even encryption if possible. I would query and insert locally only the newest records found in that XML file to an xml or MS access db.

We have a webservice that we have been deploying using the deployment project in Visual Studio. Now we are trying to deploy this service to a server that has multiple sites. I have looked everywhere in the deployement project to see where I can allow the person installing to choose the root, but I can't find anything. Is there a way to install in a desired root using the deployment project? or is Visual Studio installer more of a...

Just a question that I keep forgetting to ask "off-topic" to others in the same field of work or hobby... Yes, I know this isn't a group specific question, but would like to know how y'all setup yer IIS applications, whether it be a .Net Web Application, or an older ASP X.X application. Under IIS, you can add sites (if you have the right Server installed) as well as add applications under each web site. Multiple web sites with...

Until now all of my VS2003 asp.net websites have been deployed to the target server's IIS6+ Default Web Site. Now I need to deploy to a different website and that seems to present a problem. Normally, I set up a directory structure to hold the application files and then create the virtual directory. Now instead of a virtual directory I've created a new Web sight and registered the IP address and Host Header information with the DNS...

I posted this last week end in the MSDN forums. No luck there. Let's see what the experts here have to say:-)))) I have a rather convoluted project. The distributable will come in eight different flavors, each with its main program, libraries, datafiles, doco, etc. Each flavor will also have one or more standalone executables that can be called as tools from within the main program.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
