Page output caching

Is there a setting in the web.config that will enable page-output caching
for an entire site? All the documentation I find on output caching deals at
the page or sub-page level. I saw a couple posts on Usenet that made
reference to a "web.config " setting, but didn't actually state what it was.

I have a lot of pages I want to cache and would like to set it once instead
of each page.

Thanks,

Tom

DOn't think it's inhenrently doable in web.config, but you can
programmaticall y set the caching in a base class and store custom settings
in the web.config...

Hi, My goal is to take the entire html/javascript stream spat out by .aspx pages and save them as simple strings in a database (for caching purposes). I'm not sure how I can get hold of this html stream, though - does anyone have any strategies / code samples to get me going? Thanks,

Hi All, I'm having a problem with Page Output caching on a page that contains a DataGrid. Basically the page pulls up some data for sales information from the DB. Some of this has to be calculated on the fly when the request is made, and so I thought it would be ideal to cache the page for a set amount of time. I've placed the following at the top of my page: <%@ OutputCache Duration="160" VaryByParam="None" %> Now the problem is...

I have a products catalogue that I'm putting online and there will be between 20 to 50 different pages of products. Each page contains a datagrid of products for a given category. However, the categories change from time to time so the list of categories must be dynamic and database driven (as is the menu used to select the category to load in the products page). The way I see it there's 2 possible options. dynamically create each aspx...

I have a site where I have only one page and lots of user controls. Rather than passing parameters into the page (mysite/default.aspx?MenuID=123), I pass in a url like this (mysite/products-greenwidgets.aspx). then in the global.asax I intercept the url coming in and convert it to a parameter url like this (mysite/default.aspx?MenuID=greenwidgets). then when the default.aspx page loads, it passes "greenwidgets" to the database and gets a...

Hello, I am stuck with an issue and would appreciate if anyone can help me out with the same. I have a few aspx(input) pages where the user enters the selection criteria for generating reports in the next page(activeviewer.aspx-rpt assembly plugin by datadynamics). The way the application is designed is - all the processing is done on the input page and the output is dumped in a session variable and later pulled in the...

Hi, (ASP.Net 1.1) is it possible to (programmatically and globally) deactivate page fragment caching? We have only two scenarios, development stage where we want caching off and testing where we want caching on. Is this doable? I think there is a config switch in 2.0, anything in 1.1? TIA for any hint,

What are best practices for page output caching on pages that are dynamically generated from database tables. Our site has left-hand navigation that is comprised of dynamically generated menus of product categories. The categories are taken from several database tables which rarely change. This left-hand navigation is included on every single page in the site and as such is wrapped up in a user-control. However, when I enabled caching...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
