Problems with application configuration (web.config)

To all,

I am experiencing difficulties with an asp.net web application and its
web.config file. No matter what I try I keep getting the following error:

Server Error in '/action' Application.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Runtime Error
Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom
error settings for this application prevent the details of the application
error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however,
be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable
on remote machines, please create a <customErrors > tag within a "web.config "
configuration file located in the root directory of the current web
application. This <customErrors > tag should then have its "mode" attribute
set to "Off".
<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuratio n>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="Off"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>
Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom
error page by modifying the "defaultRedirec t" attribute of the application's
<customErrors > configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.
<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuratio n>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="RemoteOnl y" defaultRedirect ="mycustompage. htm"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>

Originally, I thought this was a configuration issue. I have performed the
following tasks, but nothing has worked:

1. Configured the application as a virtual directory and application under
IIS.
2. Modified the asp.net worker process under machine.config to give it full
system privleges (user="System")
3. Added the ASP.NET user account to my administrators group.

The same error still happens. I am running on a Windows 2000 Server, with
IIS 5.0, and on the 1.1 .NET Framework.

If anyone has a suggestion, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Chris...

Try reinstalling asp.net. Open a command prompt and type aspnet_regiis
-i.

Chris:

You really should set the custom errors mode to Off and get a detailed
exception message, otherwise it's impossible to guess at the possible
reason for the error.

Scenario: This is about debugging server side scripts that make calls to middle-tier business DLLs. The server side scripts are legacy ASP 3.0 pages, and the DLLs are managed DLLs converted/developed with VB.NET. What I want from debugging is to be able to step into the methods in the DLLs called from ASP scripts using Visual Studio .NET. Background: For typical script debugging issues, you can read and follow the two documents on...

I built an ASP application and it runs fine on my local IIS. I am trying to move the application to my web service (ISP) out on the internet. I seem to be having a problem using web parts after the beta 2 release. Any time I try to have the WebPartManager on any page, I get the exception listed below. I've gone through the steps listed below and have gone as far as given EVERYONE full control of the App_Data folder. I am using the default settings (which I assume is the Cassini web server), so I believe it is a user permissions problem. Furthermore, if I publish the site...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
