premature Session time out when SQLServer is used

We had to resort to using SQLServer for SessionState mode because of the web
farm situation. Ever since then, Session keeps timing out unexpectedly. I
know that all the steps were followed to get the web farm working (modifying
machine.config, etc). So ViewState stays in tact, but Session keeps timing
out.

Any ideas?

I'm trying to find out some of the details behind OOP state management with SQL Server. For instance - how long does the session object live on any server? Is it created and destoyed with each page request? - will each reading of a session variable cause a round trip to the DB server? or does the complete session live within the HttpContext...

I wrote a asp.net app for a client to enter Purchase Requisitions for IT purchases (using Session variables). The users want the session timeout to be set to at least an hour because they are constantly interrupted when entering PRs. I know I can change it in the web.config but is there any cons to making the timeout that long or even...

Hello I'm running two Webservers Using ASP.NET. both are running the same ASP.NET Application, with <sessionState mode="SQLServer" stateConnectionString="tcpip=127.0.0.1:42424" sqlConnectionString="data source=myserver;user id=myuser;password=mypw" cookieless="false" timeout="20" /> This seems to work. But we have cases, when users...

I've come from the old ASP camp where session variables were not used. When i started using ASP.NET in 2001, I started using them again because it was ok from what I'd read. I've been merrily using Session variables for three years now and i'm entering a project with my new boss who has never quite come around that session variables are...

I'm on a project where the prevoius developer wrote code like below. I thought stuff like this was bad? Isn't he putting a page into a session object? And what we are trying to do is hit the db via a Stored Proc to create a datatable in most cases. This seems like a waste to me. Is this good? Public Shared Function getSQL(ByRef thePage As...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
