ODBCCOnnection. ConnectionTimeo ut

As per documentation "ODBCCOnnection .ConnectionTime out
Gets or sets the time to wait while trying to establish a connection before terminating the attempt and generating an error."

How to set the timeout for executing SQL statements? How long the connection will wait to excute a statement?

I am using ODBC namespace and .Net Framework 1.1.

Thanks,

Gill

Hi: Do you know how to change Connection timeout time? By default it's 15s, Now I want to change it to 30s. However SqlConnection.ConnectionTimeout is read only. What should I do? Also if the SQL query is to long and need several minutes to finish, is there a way to make timeout time longer? Thanks, Dennis Huang

I've noticed a difference in behaviour with the State property. Say we have an application connected and I then via Sql Server I kill the connection. When using OdbcConnection and you get the State value, Odbc goes and actually check what the state is and returns Close. When using SqlConnection and you get the State value, it returns Open and DOES NOT check the state against the connection.

I got the error message below when I try to open a connection with code: Dim connection As New OdbcConnection("Driver={Microsoft Text Driver (*.txt; *.csv)};DBQ=C:\Inetpub\aesd") connection.Open() I am developing an asp.net application on Windows XP SP2. Can anyone help? Personal I think it is because of the limited permissions that asp.net account has.

Hello, i use a ODBCConnection object in a multithread application. Everytime the thread is running i create a new object of the ODBCConnection and run my queries to fill my dataset. After that, i close the connection and set it to nothing. But the application didn't free the memory of the connection after the thread is shutdown. Is that a genral fault of the ODBC driver?

MySQLConnection.connectiontimeout() returns 15. I want to drop that to 3, but it is read only. I see you can include the timeout "Connection Timeout=30" as part of the connection string but I don't necessarily want it at 3 during the connection--just for queries. Is there a way to set it after I'm connected or for it not to affect the connection process?

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
