Response.Redire ct generates and Exception

Vi
Hi,
I have a try block in which I execute a Page.Response.R edirect("myPage .aspx");

This statement always generates the exception: "Thread was being aborted"
and the execution continues in the catch block.
Is there a way to execute Page.Response.R edirect without generating this
exception?
Or if not, is there at least a way to ignore this exception in the code?

Thank you.

You can do Page.Response.R edirect("myPage .aspx", false);

this will tell it to continue processing the page and THEN redirect....thu s
not causing the thread to be aborted....pers onally, I don't care much for
this solution (not that it's overly bad). What's the deal with the
exception being generated? You can ignore it by swallowing it:

try{
Response.Redire ct("blah.aspx") ;
}catch (ThreadAbortExc eption ex){ }

Hi there I have a program written by another company (it's a "web control" which returns a web-page: can I compare this to a servlet in the Java world?), which they think is causing problems on their server. But no-one really knows if this program is at fault because the problem only exhibits itself every once and a while, and the only thing they can see is that their web-users suddenly stop receiving responses.

I am writing an ASP.NET application in which I am using the Response.Redirect() call. I noticed that I catch a ThreadAbort Exception after making the call. Indeed the documentation states that this occurs "Beware! The run time can throw exceptions on its own! For example, Response.Redirect() throws a ThreadAbort exception. Even if you don't explicitly throw exceptions, you may use functions that do. Make sure you check Perfmon to get the...

We are getting a behavior on a Response.Redirect("SomeUrl", True) that I'm hoping someone can explain. This all refers to the code snip at the end. By the way, this is all VB ASP.NET v1.0 code. So we have the Page_Load event of an ASPX page fire which in the snip you see calls "SomeMethod". Also you see in Page_Load two Catch statements. The first is "SpecialException". We created our own extended exception (inherits from...

I have the following situation: I was getting intermittent errors using Reponse.Redirct("url", true) and was trying to catch the ThreadAbortException, but it was not staying caught and was showing up again where my code wasnt expecting it. I'm not sure what was causing it. The catch block in RedirectPage is supposed to quash the ThreadAbortException but it not only shows up there, but also in the outer catch block will catch it as well....

Hi, I have an <asp:Button> control on a page. When it is clicked, I run a db stored procedure and then I want to go to the next page by executing a Response.Redirect("NextPage.aspx?id=" + myID). The Response.Redirect always generates an Exception "Thread was being aborted." Is there a way to execute Response.Redirect without generating this exception? (I cannot use Server.Transfer is this particular case). Or can I achieve the same...

I'm having an issue with an ASP.NET website after upgrading to ASP.NET 2.0. The website makes use of a central authentication service (CAS) provided at the university I work for. Each page checks a session variable, and if it is not present, does a Response.Redirect to a webpage for the CAS passing a url parameter for the url to post back to. The CAS provides a page for the user to log into, validates the username and password, and then...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
