My application (relevant code snippets below) originally used Session
variables in order to maintain state from page to page. After being
unable to solve the mystery of why those variables were intermittently
inaccessible, (all Session variables gone, not using InProc Session
state mode), I moved to a cookies-based solution. Now I have cookie
contents that are intermittently inaccessible. Someone suggested using
session variables to...

I've come across a real problem and am totally stuck as to why this is
happening, hoping desperately that someone else has experienced the same
thing, and knows a solution! Session state should be available from the
PrequestHandlerExecute event, and is most of the time for me however
sometimes asp.net appears not to load session state at this stage. We
have a HttpModule which runs fine 99% of the time however sometimes we
have a problem...

for high traffic public websites , what are the proven options for

is an out-of-process state-server generally preferred over a sql-server ?
what are the relevant criteria ? is the primary criteria max expected total

if ADO.NET objects (such as small DataTables) must be stored in

Hi,
I've added a property to my Page base class (this base class inherits from
Page and all my aspx.cs classes inherit from my base class). This property
of mine uses the Session object to determine its return information.
After implementing this property, whenever I now open any aspx page in the
Visual Studio 7.0 IDE, the following error shows up:
"The file failed to load in the Web form designer. Please correct the

Hi,
I am trying to access session variable value from the
'Application_BeginRequest' handler in the global asax file but get the
message - 'Session state not available in this context'. I have tried
loading the current context using 'Dim context As HttpContext =
HttpContext.Current' but get the error 'Object reference not set to an
instance of an object'
Anyone know how you get at this?

Hope someone can help.
We are trying to deploy an ASP.Net 2.0 application to a 3-node webfarm.
The application uses the ReportViewer control in local mode, hence we
need session state.
Because we dont wan't a single point of failure we use SQL Session
State.
I have setup a persistant sql session state database on a SQL 2000
server (this is a cluster in production, so no SPOF)
I have setup our web.config files to include;
" <sessionState...

We ran into an issue on two of our client environments where our app is
deployed.( Windows 2003 SP2 servers). Our app is a web app .NET 1.1.
When the user browses to some pages located in a particular folder, they get
an error
Session state is not available in this context.
We resolved this by adding enableSessionState="true" to the individual pages
int the page directive. We can't reproduce this on any other environments
where our app is...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
