datagrid template columns and customvalidatio n

hey all,

I'm not sure if this is even possible but here goes:
if i put a CustomValidator control in my EditItem template column how do i
get to it? Or how and where do i write my custom code for the
customvalidatio n control?

thanks,

There are problems trying to implement cell by cell validation using the
grid's Validating event architecture. The problem is that the grid is not the
object handling the data. Instead, a TextBox or some other control is the
control managing the changing of the cell contents. One way to implement the
validation at the grid level is to handle the CurrentCellChan ged event, and
if the previous cell's value is not proper, then return to that cell.

Try using the Handle_CurrentC ellChanged Event
and obtain it with something like this:

newCurrentRow = dataGrid1.Curre ntCell.RowNumbe r;
newCurrentCol = dataGrid1.Curre ntCell.ColumnNu mber;

I have a datagrid with a template column that has a hyperlink and a label. The hyperlink text is bound to Title from my dataset and the label text is bound to Author in the dataset. The grid displays with the template columns showing the Title and the Author from the first row in all rows. The other none template columns are fine. Obviously I am not understanding something here. What am I missing????? -- Barry Fitzgerald

Is it possible to use a drop combo instead of a text box when using the EditCommand in the Datagrid? Many table columns are bound to 'lookup' tables, user's don't care about the foreign keys, they want the text value. Any advice, samples or places to read are appreciated. Thanks.

I am creating template columns programmatically. I have read the msdn article on this and I'm so close. Article: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dv_vstechart/html/vbtchcreatingwebservercontroltemplatesprogrammatically.asp I have narrowed down the problem comes in when the _DataBinding handler is called and the literal text is being assigned, but I can't figure out beyond that. The main problem is that...

Trying to figure out the technique which should be used to add rows to a datagrid. I am thinking that I would want an "Add" button on the footer, but I am not quite sure how to do that. Is that the best method? Do you have a sample of how to do this?

hi, i have a datagrid which display custom controls when user clicks edit, changing data. I am using customvalidator to validate this control. I can get validation of user input to work no problem when user clicks on update in datagrid. My problem is that when I try to get customvalidation to work when user changes the value in the control, as i want this to be checked as soon as user changes the control. Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
