what are system PATH environment variables?

We've purchased a component that requires us to install two DLLs. One we add
as a reference to our project, but the otherone we have to add to the
'environment setup' as a system path reference. What, exactly are these and
how do they compare to project reference DLLs?

Go to Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Properties ->
Environment Variables. Here you can add a system environment
variable.

What is it telling you to add to the environment variables? Perhaps
the second dll is a native (non-.NET dll) that reads configuration
information from the environment variables.

I'm realizing I didn't frame my question well. What's ***TOTALLY COMPELLING*** about Ruby over Python? What makes you jump up in your chair and scream "Wow! Ruby has *that*? That is SO FRICKIN' COOL!!! ***MAN*** that would save me a buttload of work and make my life sooooo much easier!" As opposed to minor differences of this feature here, that feature there. Variations on style are of no interest to me. I'm coming at this from a...

Hi there, I have two scripts. The first "main.py" sets some variables and then imports another called "gen.py". The idea is to provide "main.py" that defines some paths, variables etc. without using Windows environment variables. Various other "hackers" will make additional Python scripts (subroutines) like "gen.py" that utilize variables set by the "main.py" and which "main.py" calls. I can do this with "subprocess" module by setting...

We have written a small function to append a couple of paths to the path environmental variable. The code is: string PathValue = ""; string sAdd = ""; sAdd = ";" + <path1> + "Bin;" + <path2>; PathValue = System.Environment.GetEnvironmentVariable("Path"); PathValue += sAdd;

With VB6 I wanted to be consistent in how I named variables so I developed the following doc. The last column is what I named the variable. I tried to be consistent wit the Win32 document but it is not consistent. For example, Filename is used many different ways. Now I'm trying to find out what .NET does and am looking for help from experience users. Can you suggest any changes I could in the variable names to be consistent

O/S: Win2K Vsn of Python:2.4 Based on a search of other posts in this group, it appears as though os.environ is one way to obtain the PATH environment variable. My questions: 1) is it correct that os.environ contains the PATH environment variable? 2) are there other ways to obtain the PATH environment variable? if so,

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
