I have code that will set a drop-down list value to "xyz" and the .Enabled
property to False. However, when I do that I can no longer retrieve the
value "xyz" upon postback. It is as if I set the .Visible property to False
as well and the control wasn't rendered, but I did not. If you View Source
of the rendered HTML, you can see that the control is indeed still intact

Hello all,
I have always been having this issue and wondering what the solution is.
When I set the enableviewstate property to false for a textbox, the textbox
always retains its value after a postback occurs. Why is this? I want the
textbox to become empty after postback. How can I do it without setting
textbox.text = "" and without doing Response.redirect to the same page.

hi, im attempting to create an intellisense type form and have hit a
roadblock. I need the form to return (like the ShowDialog method returns the
dialog result) the value that was selected when the form closes. however, i
cannot just create a method that shadows ShowDialog and return it that way
because the form needs to close when the user clicks elsewhere on the screen,
or Alt-Tabs away from the window. i already have the code to close...
