StateServer Sessions problem

Hi,

We have a 2-processor server. Initially, our application was failing
when it accesses session variables (we were using InProc). We found
out the reason was we had webgarden enabled in machine.config.

We switched to StateServer, but now the porblem is sessions only
expire if we access the application locally (on the server), but they
don't when using the application remotely.

Any ideas as what is causing the problem?

If we'd like to have Webgraden enabled and use InProc, is there away
to limit the application to use on processor only?

Thanks

On my development machine my application works fine but on the deployment server my session variable gets lost after a postback on a webform. By doing a watch on the Session object I can see that the SessionId is changing and the mode is StateServer. (I changed from InProc to StateServer to try to fix the problem but it didn't have any effect. Details: - Win 2k Server/IIS 5.0/.NET Framework 1.1 - I have disabled virus protection.

I understand the benefit of pushing the StateServer process onto another computer to "balance" the load and take some cpu and memory usage off the web server, but how much could it possibly help? Especially when you're talking about marshalling the data back and forth across your network (although on the same segment)? Here's my scenario: Each login stores exactly 3 session variables; one integer and two strings. That's it. Never, ever,...

My team is building an ASP.NET web application that uses out-of-process session state with the StateServer setting. We have a very strange problem on one of the development machines. The application is running under IIS on a WinXP SP2 machine connecting to StateServer on localhost port 42424. On all of our developer machines it runs fine and responds promptly using this configuration except for one machine where it takes about 30 seconds...

I have some problems with my stateserver. First my setup: I am running ASP.NET 1.1.4322 SP 1.1 on one computer and the stateserver on another computer. Both of the machines are Dell Poweredge 2850 (dual processor machines with 2 GB memory). The web server is serving traffic with 2000-4000 sessions and 20-40 requests/s. The web pages are converted from ASP so there is no code behind-pages and some COM-objects. The stateserver machine is...

I have been using the default session state (InProc) and have found that I have been loosing my information after a period of time (normally 20 minutes). Is there anyway to find out how much more time I have on a session? If I do a refresh, does reset the session clock? Do you have have to go to another page to reset the session timeout or will a postback also do it? This is important as we have a few pages that a user

I switched my site from InProc to StateServer a while ago which solve a problem I was having dropping my session cookies when the worker process recycles. This has been working well until today. I was looking at some sample code and found that it won't work under StateServer, but will under InProc. The message I get is:

We are building a system with ASP.NET. Currently running through the optimisation of the system using different caching mechanisms. Were using Linux LBS for load balancing - this does not employ sticky sessions. So my question is this - what caching techniques can we use if we don't have sticky sessions across the load balances web servers? Thanks in advance

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
