retain controls added to placeholder during postback?

I'm adding several controls (labels, etc.) to a placeholder programatically .
I'd like the PlaceHolder to maintain these contents during postbacks without
having to programmaticall y recreate their contents. Is there a way to do
this?

Thanks in advance.

No. Whom do you expect to re-create their contents? It's either going to be
your application or nobody.

The contents must be recreated after postback one way or another.
However, you can automate the process with techniques such as this:
http://www.ftponline.com/vsm/2003_04...efault_pf.aspx
It discusses extending the panel control to help make such tasks easier.

Hello again to all of you geniuses, I'm having a problem trying to load dynamic controls at the initialization phase. I've read the docs, and I thought I had it figured out: <>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<> <>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<> .NET Framework Class Library Control.Init Event

I have a custom control (MyTextBox - taken from Microsoft website) that implements the IPostBackDataHandler interface. It is added to the controls collection of a placeholder control during the Page Load of a main ASPX page. Now if we debug the MyTextBox, we find the order of events like so (during a Posback, of course): OnInit -> OnLoad -> LoadPostData. My question is why does the LoadPostData occur *after* the OnLoad instead of...

I have added controls to the placeholder control. All the controls that were added have EnableViewState = true including the placeholder. One of the controls has a button that performs a postback. My question is when the button is clicked and a postback is performed, the controls that were in the placeholder no longer appears on the screen! Am I doing something wrong here? Why are the controls back on the screen eventhough they have enable view...

Perhaps I'm just too new at this to pull it off, or perhaps it's just bad architecture. I'd appreciate some feedback on the the wisdom (or lack thereof) in attempting the following: I'm not new to programming, but I am new to ASP.NET and Web application design in general... loved the concept of user controls and dynamically adding them to a page. So what I wound up with was an application that dynamically loads two user controls directly...

I have created several grids dynamically and have added them to different HTML placeholders on a vb.net web form. The grids and controls within them come up and view beautifully when the web page first starts, but when I click on a button, and the page comes back, my dynamically created grid and controls are not visible. Any thoughts? Please view my sample code below. If Not ispostback then creategrids end if

I have successfully created functionality that mostly models what I'm trying to do - which is dynamically insert controls into a user control (ascx), and insert validation controls, also dynamically, for some of the inserted controls. The controls (e.g., textBoxes) get created correctly and viewstate is maintained across postbacks, etc - BUT there is an issue with the validation controls. The validation controls, themselves are...

Hi, I need to find a way to place multiple textboxes and other controls dynamically on a web form, I tried to put a placeholder on a form then create and add controls dynamically into the place holder. It is not working, all controls added disappear after the postback. I tried to find a working sample on Internet with no lucks, some samples are able to keep the controls after the postback, but all values entered before the postback...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
