Permissions needed to run aspnet_regiis.e xe -c

Hi,

I'm trying to install the client side scripts on a server, but I always get
the following error:

An error has occurred (0x80070005).
You must have administrative rights on this machine in order to run this
tool.

I am logged on as a domain admin on the server. Anyone know the specific
permissions needed to run the tool?

Thanks

Eric

Well, obviously I am. When you join a server to a domain, the Domain Admin
group is automatically added to the local Administrators group. I verified
it to be sure that nothing had changed. I think it's really a permissions
problem somewhere.

Obviously your not you could run it now.
Check again, just because your an admin on the domain does not make you a
admin on the local machine
I'm currently an admin on my local pc but not the domain.

Hi all, Is there any class in .NET 1.x that will help me set file & folder permissions for a user? Aka - I would like to do the in code equivalent of right clicking a folder in file explorer and granting read/write access to a specific user {not the user running the program}. Any ideas? Or am I going to have to PInvoke like crazy??

I have a small ASP.NET app that someone designed which I need to run on our server. The server is Windows 2000 Server and has the .NET Framework installed. How can I give ASP.NET permission to run? On my dev machine I give the local ASPNET user read/write permission to the folders it needs to access, but as this is a server, the ASPNET user does not exist.

On one of my localhost sites I'm getting a message to run aspnet_regiis -c to correct some scripting issues. When I try to run the listed command I get another error: "You must have administrative rights on this machine in order to run this tool." I have verified that I have administrative rights on the box as my normal login. I have also logged in as the local administrator, tried the same thing and get the same message.

For some unexplained reason, I am suddenly unable to browse to a virtual directory on my laptop. I have a number of sample websites to which I could happliy browse up until last week. As of Monday, if I browse to any of the sites, I get an HttpException saying "The directory does not exist or is not accessible because of security settings." I honestly have not changed anything at all. I have checked and re-checked that ASPNET indeed has...

I'm trying to set up a test environment for an ASP.NET site on a Windows XP Pro box. I installed IIS5.1 and then .Net V2. I put up a web site that contains just a simple Default.aspx "hello world" page. When I try to connect, I get the "Server Unavailable" page. Plain HTML pages are served with no problems. Looking at the Event Viewer Application section I see two error entries: aspnet_wp.exe (PID: 1676) stopped unexpectedly.

Please look at the "what I've already done" section of this message before responding to it: I believe that I've done everything that the people who experience this error are typically told to do. I have created an ASP.NET web service that I have running on my development machine, and am trying to get it to run on my test server. Both machines are running Windows 2000 SP4, IIS 5, and the .NET 2.0 framework. When I attempt to access...

I'm having strange problems with IE7 just quiting when I open documents on some Sharepoint 3.0 Sites and I think it could be a asp.net issue. My Windows 2003 Server running IIS 6 and Windows Sharepoint Services 3.0 shows both ASP.NET 1.1 and 2.0 as options in the IIS Manager's ASP Net Tab. My Question is, should I uninstall asp.net 1.1

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
