Hi,
I'm playing around with the possibilities of Page.ParseControl.
Thanks to Kirk Allen Evans I got my example running
(Posting Juli, 17, "Re: Generating ASP.NET-Controls with XSLT possible?").
But looking deeper I run into a problem:
Kirk said, that "validation works as expected", but in my experience it
works only to a certain degree "as expected".

From my codebehind, I am trying to get an object reference to the
current form, so I can perform a FindControl and work with one of the
child controls.
My problem is that I never know the name of the control. How to find
that (using Reflection?)?
Thanks.

I have code that changes the bkground color of the webform on page_load.
Here it is:
Dim Body As New HtmlGenericControl
Body = CType(Page.Controls(1), HtmlGenericControl)
Body.Attributes("bgcolor") =
ConfigurationSettings.AppSettings("BackgroundColor")
I'm getting this error message "System.InvalidCastException: Specified cast
is not valid." at this line:
Body = CType(Page.Controls(1), HtmlGenericControl)

I have 2 webforms. When I print out the page.Controls(1).tostring variable
one says "HtmlForm", the other "HtmlGenericControl". How can I change the
first one to "HtmlForm"?
? page.Controls(1).tostring
"System.Web.UI.HtmlControls.HtmlForm"
? page.Controls(1).tostring
"System.Web.UI.HtmlControls.HtmlGenericControl"

I have a base page with an HTMLForm object (added to the base page control
heiarchy during Init).
In the design of pages derived from this base page, I can choose to create
controls and add them to the HTMLForm object I'm inheriting, to create a
postback form. And on one particular page I'm doing just that; defining
controls on the derived page (during Init) and adding these controls to the
inherited HTMLForm object's control...

I'm trying to create a mutli-form page on my website, but having trouble
with the PostBack stuff. And yes, I'm new to C# - my background of 8yrs
is original ASP, and I'm getting easily confused now... which is most
aggravating
My sample test code is below...
The idea is that the page can have 2 or even 3 panels to show different
form elements, and then I hide all the panels and process the
information gather from the forms.

We have a page that is loading very slow. There is not a lot of data, not a
lot of users are connected at the same time and the page does not produce an
error, so I am not sure where to start to look for why it is slowing down. I
thought about the DB first and added NOLOCK to a couple of stored procedures
that were being run, but with no effect. Can someone offer some tips on where
to start looking or how I can begin to diagnose this...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
