Using Visual Studio.NET in a shared environment

I am exploring the technical possibilities and the legal issues in using Visual Studio.NET in a shared environment. I would like to know if it is possible/legal to have Visual Studio.NET on a server machine, and allow our developers to access it using CITRIX/WINDOWS TERMINAL SERVICE

Note that we have purchased five licenses for .NET and hence we plan on a scenario with a maximum of five developers

If it is possible, but not legal, is there any extra fee or something that allows us NOT to install .net on each of our developers' machines

Thank you.

Think you should be fine. As long as you have the number of licenses it
doesnt matter whether you have one install shared for the number of licenses
or have standalone installs.

I'm currently experiencing a strange phenomenon: At my Office, Visual Studio takes a very long time to compile our solution (more than 1 minute for the first project). At home, Visual Studio compiles the same solution much faster (about 10 seconds for the first project). My home computer is only marginally faster than the one I have at the office (P4 2.53 vs. P4 2.4, same amount of RAM). On the slow machine, the CPU usage is very low,...

Hi I have a question regarding the functionality of merge modules. Since this relates to my previous queries, I'll just give you a brief background on the topic. I had to make an installer for an application which was to share dlls with another application and these dlls were not self-registering. Someone on the forum suggested a few methods for the Visual studio installer, but since I had been using another software, a certain...

Hi all, My code compiles well with gcc on linux and OS X, but now I have to run it at work, and my only choice is Visual Studio .Net 2003 environment on windows, which I had never used before. I've noticed several obstacles with the compilation. For example this environment insists that we put all headers under a stdafx header, which I managed to find a way to get around. But there are other issues. For example, Visual Studio claims...

We have a web application in 2003. The solution contains the project for the web application and five other projects for shared assemblies. We have two issues. The first is that we want to place the entire solution in some other directory like c:\work rather than wwwroot. We can use vss to do a get latest version, but as soon as we open the solution from within visual studio, vs copies the main web application source files to a new...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
