Active User Counter keep increasing!

I have a active user counter in my web apps which
previously works but now i realise the counter keep
increasing.
the value of active user is kept in the global.asax which
i do increase during session start and descrease when
session end
i am worried it might be a issues for the server as i use
session to store some data but the counter is definately
wrong becuase i know it's far too high
what could be wrong and how do i resolve that? many thanks!

Hi, I've searched over 1 hour on Google and elsewhere and haven't found anything. I'd like to find a way to get the real active user count on our website. THe main problem I have is when a user quit with the "X" the counter will be decremented of 1 only when the Session.Timeout will be expired. Please let me know if anyone have come accross a solution somewhere...

I am trying to enforce a licence for my web application based on the number of active sessions. Each time a new user accesses the app, I want to check this to see if over the limit. Unfortunately, Can't find a way to check this in ASP.NET. Looked at performanceCounters but have not had any success there. Anyone got any ideas?

Hey all, Working on revamping our Intranet here and making use of the LDPA, Active Directory, Directory Services, etc. that .Net provides. I am still fairly new on this subject, so the problem I have run into I am not sure how to fix, and really not sure what is causing it. Here's what is going on (test server - Windows 2003 Server): I have a page in a folder (under anonymous authentication in IIS6) that has a link on it that...

Hi, In an attempt to create a full-blown webcrawler I've found myself writing a wrapper around the Socket class in an attempt to make it completely async, supporting timeouts and some scheduling mechanisms. I use a non-blocking approach for this, using the call to 'poll' to support the async mechanism - rather than the 'begin' and 'end' functions. I already found that connecting doesn't set the "isconnected" variable correctly...

I am using System.Security.Principal to identify clients and allow functionality based on the groups they belong to. In one case I would like to let them know who can do the function they cannot. How do I list the members of a group? Thanks Tom

Hi, This is a homework question. I will try to keep it minimal so not to have anyone do it for me. I am really just stuck on one small spot. I have to figure out the highest number from a users input. I give them a menu to choose from, and I am stuck on only one of the choices. When this choice is picked I must allow the user to enter how many numbers he/she wants to enter; then I must figure out which number is the highest. I have...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
