Translating User Search Strings into Full-Text Contains Syntax

I'm interested in how other participants in this new group are implementing
SQL Full-Text Search on their Web Sites.

How are you translating the user search string: "DirectX managed code" into
the contains statement syntax ' "DirectX" AND "managed" AND "code" '?

I started writing a query parsers as an intermediary to handle control
characters like ['(',')',....], but frankly it's becoming a rather pain in
the a$$. If anyone has any suggestions as to the techniques they have used,
I'd be much ablidged.

Otherwise if anyone is interested in collaborative development of the query
parser, I'd appricate the help. I'd think there would be some appetite for
publishing the finished product in VS Magazine or MSDN Magazine.

Regards and Best of Luck to All,

Dylan Phillips

Hi all, I need to write a function to search and replace part of a char* passed in to the function. I came up with the following: char* search_and_replace(char* source,char search,char* replace){ char* result; size_t l = strlen(source), r = strlen(replace), i; int number_of_replaces = 0; for(i = 0; i < l; i++){ if(source == search)

Thank you for your help I think I know what the problem is. Firstly the add_record cannot read the record.txt or something if the record.txt (in which I used it to store the details of each record) is present in the same directory. When it prompt enter your selection from the menu, it will just stuck there so I cant even create a new entry and thus I cant check the modify function in my program. If it's not present, it will create a...

If I have an array of data that I know to be sorted in increasing order, and the array is less than 50 elements, and I want to find the first element greater than a certain value, is a simple linear search the best here(for loop from beginning to end of array)? It seems like some other search algorithm like binary or whatever would be of no benefit on this data set.

Hello, I have an array of strings and need to find the matching one with the fastest possible code. I decided to order the array and then write a binary search algo. What I came up with is the following. I noticed that if I set: int upper = strings.GetUpperBound(0); I never match the last element in the array (i.e. "iii")

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
