Hi, I'm writing a program for PPC and I use IBM's Websphere Device Developper PPRO1.0 java VM. This vm is much smaller and simple than standard vm as it has to run on small devices as handhelds. And lot of java standard base classes are not present. I needed package java.nio.* to run stax (a xml utility) so I copied-pasted from rt.jar the package java.nio.* and imported it in the classpath of my project. But when I ran my class I got this...

(this is a repost with an addition - probably noone noticed my message first time) Hi! Just to be sure, is email package of Python 2.3 thread-safe or not (to use, for example, in python-milter?) P.S. And where can I find information on particular piece of standard library if it is thread-safe or need locking? I recall 'random' module is (was?)

Please, disregard my last message. I've discovered that in "password" file it was mentioned a path '/var/lib/psql' where Mandrake distro installed postres previously. I've solved it. But I still have another problem: A later step in Postgres installation instructions says: "/usr/local/pgsql/bin/postmaster -D /usr/local/pgsql/data >logfile 2>&1 &" and with this I obtain: "bash: logfile: Dennied permission"

Hi All: I tried to uninstall a runtime security package from a user's machine. Based on document I have read, all I need to do is right click on MSI file, and choose uninstall from menu. After I chose uninstall, the package seemed to uninstall itself. But when open .NET configuration 1.1, I did not see the package got remove. Thanks in advance DK

If I want to write a cgi script that reads the contents of an HTML form and emails it to me, what would I use as the host parameter for my SMTP instance? The example in the docs is 'localhost', but I don't know what that means or refers to. I imagine I would have to use something that was tied to me specifically, but tied to what? My computer? My email address?

I was thinking more about things where people can search for packages that need different versions of python, etc.; not so much for automation. I'm using 2005.Net C++ compiler. I have a base class in namespace A (call it Class1). I derive another class from it, (call it Class2) defined in namespace B. This derived class contains as a member datum a pointer to an object of type Class3 from namespace A, and thus requires forward declaration. I attempted the following in the Class 2 hpp file: #include "Class1.hpp" // << Base class "A::Class1" - need this of course.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
