Implement Windows and Forms Authentication

I would like to know if there's a way to implement both Windows Integrated
and Forms authentication in my Asp.net application. It's an Intranet
application wich I would like to enable from inside and outside access...
It would work in the following way...
When the authentication is requested, the system would check if he can
authenticate by windows user accounts/password. If it doesn't, he would show
a authentication request, using simple forms authentication. .
Don't know if it's the best way...
Don't even know if I can implement something mixed this way...
I sometime heard about methods of implementing authentication directly from
the IIS, this way I don't know how it would differs from implement a Windows
Integrated authentication from ASP.Net... I'm in doubt...

Thanks,
Rafa

I am working a new application...well actually a series of applications for my company. They want internal users to be able to go to a site and everything regarding security is transparent, however we will have brokers and customers that also need to connect and will require a username and password. In this case we were going to store their credentials in a SQL database. Internal users will have the ability to access the same resources...

Is there a way to implement multiple login forms for ASP.NET applications? With our application we want to implement simple login form for normal resources (downloadable files), but more rigorous login forms for tasks like administration and configuration. The current ASP.NET seems only to allow to a single login form via the authentication element in web.config in the root directory. One work-around for our problem is implementing a...

Hi, I've configured a web app to use windows authentication and also set up two separate subdirectories to use forms authentication. It appears to work fine but I have never seen a sample that demonstrates both in the same web.config and I don't like assuming i've done this correctly and securely. Please take a look at the following from my web.config and let me know what you think(its not the full config-- just stripped down to its...

Hi, Here is the issue: we have an ASP.NET application which is protected by Form authentication. The web application is hosted in the web-farm environment on multiple web servers. There are several asmx webservices pages used for inter-server communications, e.g. invalidate the cached items, status notifications. Since these asmx pages need to access the same application domain and httpcontext as primary asp.net application, the files...

Dear all, I built a Web Form application to start and stop a Windows Service remotely. I successful tested the application on Windows 2000 server + IIS. I must include the ASPNET user to the Administration group (on server side) to have the necessary authorization to start a Windows Service (I don't understand why "Power User" rights are not enough to do the same thing) Although I'm able to start a service using windows 2000 server...

I have a problem for a Windows Service to login on an SQL server (different machine) - neither Windows Authentication nor SQL Authentication worked. LOGIN FAILED FOR USER sa (for example). If SQL Server is on the same PC of the Windows Service the connection works OK. The same code works in a Windows Form using same user and authentication methods to the SQL Server on a different machine.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
