Deployment from staging to production

Joe
Does anyone know of a tool that can automate code migration from a
staging server to a production server. As a developer I only have
rights to migrate to staging and I would like a tool that could help
automate the delivery of code from a staging to production scenario.

Thanks in advance.

Does anyone have suggesstions for ASP.NET deployment best practices. This is in the context of a large organization where developers do not have admin access to web servers. The idea of buliding msi packages for each deploy seems difficult to implement because the server admins do not have the time to constantly be running msi's and moving applications between environments. Are there any proven products that can automate this process for...

Hello group, Curious as to how you all have chosen to deploy/publish your asp.net apps. Currently though we have a local dev environment, then we stage to a QA server then we publish/deploy. In previous jobs I've always used straight xcopy to publish to production (usually via the Copy Project option in VS.Net). The way I understand it, your choices are you can xcopy or use an MSI. What are the benefits of each and if there is no need to...

Hi! We successfully deployed our web application into our staging environment using the regular installer generated by web setup project of visual studio 2005. Apparently, we have issues that need to be resolved and then deploy the fixes. Our problem is our installer will delete everything we have in our staging environment and then install the new version. Is there any other way to do incremental deployment in such a way it will not...

What I mean by that I don't want the IT people to edit the web config for each environement manually. Is there any baset practices or patterns to automatically deploy goof web.config...

I am trying to find the best way to handle my development process. I am using Dreamweaver to handle the check-in/check-out process which works pretty well. We are trying to work out the best way to handle the data from the Development side to the Staging to the Production. Is there a best practise on how to sync the Staging Servers to the Production Servers?

I have a couple of web sites, some web services and some windows services that I need to deploy to our production servers. We used to use NANT with the VS 2003 applications. Now that we are using VS 2005, I am looking at all available deployment options. So far, I see: 1) NANT 2) MSBuild 3) Web Deployment Projects (built on MSBuild) 4) Custom powershell scripts 5) VS.Net 2005 Team System, Developer edition (Handles build only, not

I recently added a web deployment project to my vs.net 2005 solution to deploy a assocated web site project. When I originally added the web deployment project to the solution I had one other class library project which my web site was dependent on. I created a custom build configuration called "staging" and everything worked fine. I have now just added in another project, this time a web control library project, and now the solution won't...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
