Urgent Help on Authenticate Database User

Mae
Dear all,

I'm having a problem here. Suppose I have a database which
store the username and password, the user must login in
order to use the system. After login, I will store the
username in a session "HttpContext.Cu rrent.Session
("UserLogin" )". The problem is, how do I check whether the
session has expired in the web.config <authentication > ?
And the user can't simply type in the URL in the address
bar before going thru the login.

How to do it ? Please help here.

Thanks in advance
Cheers,
Mae

Hi,

First consider using Forms authentication [1]. asp.net will do the work
for you.

If you don’t want to use it for any reason you can check if
Session("UserLo gin") is empty in very page and redirect to the login
page.

DB2 UDB 7.2 WSE Fixpak 9 Linux Red Hat 7.3 A very strange thing just happened w/ my DB2 server. I am on Linux and using NIS - the instance owner is in the servers /etc/passwd file. Suddenly, DB2 would not authenticate any NIS-based logins, but it *would* authenticate the local non-NIS instance owner. This was happening not only w/ local connections on the server, but also

Hello, I have a few rather urgent questions that I hope someone can help with (I need to figure this out prior to a meeting tomorrow.) First, a bit of background: The company I work for is developing a web-based application, one part of which involves allowing the user the ability to page through transaction "history" information. The _summary_ history table will have the following fields: ServiceName, Date, User-Ref1, User-Ref2,...

Hello. I have a web site that is using Basic Authentication (yes, I am using HTTPS) and is sessionless (I am maintaining session state in a database via a custom component). When the user clicks "Log Off", or when a cookie expires, I want to Un-Authenticate the user so that he/she cannot back-pedal to a page without having to sign in again.

I know how to authenticate to a webservice using either of these ways(Assuming that rService represents the webservice): 1) rService.Credentials = new System.Net.NetworkCredential("username","password","domainName"); 2)rService.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials; My question is that is there a way to authenticate to a user using WindowsIdentity ???

I am modifying an app for a customer in ASP.Net 1.1. The app is running on a server outside their network, yet they want to authenticate users against their internal active directory set up (they will open the necessary ports). So, I have a simple login page with username and password, and then I will authenticate that credentials entered against their AD server. I am having a real hard time figuring this out. We can't use Windows Forms...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
