Hello,
I have a page such that each user can see only a corresponding
(personal) part of the page. In the beginning I wanted to perform
initialization of users (by asking there names and passwords and
comparing them with names and passwords stored in database), than I
planed (if comparison was successful) to set a corresponding value of...

Are Session variables the same as a cookie? In reading a couple of pages I
got from searches, I don't get the difference. Basically, I am currently
using simple session variables (e.g. Session("UserName") =
txtLastName.Text). I think they are expiring for some users (longer
sessions?) and I need to be able to set the expiration to something...

Hi all,
I have an application that when finished redirects to a non-ASP.NET app
which is choking on a huge ASP.NET session cookie. The cookie
"ASP.NET_SessionId" gets transmitted by the browser (IE6 in test case)
despite trying Microsoft's suggested method of expiring the cookie first.
I'd like to be able to kill the cookie and do a...

In the web.config file for my application, in the <sessionState>
section I have set timeout="120" (in minutes), but session state
variables in my application seem to be expiring in about 5 minutes.
Any idea what could cause this?
I have the mode="InProc" attribute set for <sessionState>. I know that
some people have solved the problem of...

Hi:
Our portal writes a cookie to browser on login. The cookie is then
requested by applications launched by portal as a way of passing
credentials. The problem is when logging off portal, then logging back in
as another person, cookie retrieved by application belongs to first user who
is now logged out. Portal is correctly adding and...

Hello
I need people to be able to complete long text blocks in my cms before
their session times out. From the php documentation I gather that ini
directive session.gc_maxlifetime would be the one to adjust here.
I am on shared hosting, so I can't change the php_ini settings directly.
If I use ini_set, should I do that on every page in my...

I have noticed in .net 2 that when authenticating a user, setting the
cookie using either redirectfromloginpage or setauthcookie, specifying
true for the persistent parameter that the cookie is persistent with an
expiry time of 30 minutes from now, unless you have specified a timeout
attribute in the forms element in the web.config. Quoting...

I am using a session to store user info and a cookie to store their
username. When the user returns to the site I would like the username
to be loaded from the cookie but it expires as soon as you close the
browser. How can I stop the cookie from expiring when the browser
closes?

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in...
