creating windows users from asp page?

We are trying to create a basic "signup for demo download" where user enters
info, gets an email with user/pass to go and ftp download the demo. FTP
currently is using NT security. Is it possible to create an NT user from
ASP? Or is there any other tactic that is more standard?

Thanks in advance!

ADSI should let you create users but if you will be having a lot of them you
may want to rethink this.
Can you use HTTP for the download or does it have to be FTP? You could
easily regulate it with HTTP.

One that I'm trying to do at the moment is just simply return the URL of whatever page the user is visiting. I wanted to create a Win32 application using VB.NET. If there is a better way of doing this please let me know. I assume there needs to be some sort of client side code. I was originally leaning...

In c# we have a function that creates a virtual directory in IIS 6.0 using DirectoryServices API. The code looks like this: // log in to IIS DirectoryEntry rootDir = new DirectoryEntry("IIS://localhost/W3SVC/1/Root",ADMIN_USR,ADMIN_PSWD,AuthenticationTypes.Secure); // create a child virtual directory DirectoryEntry virtualDir = rootDir.Children.Add(name, rootDir.SchemaClassName); // set the virtual directory's physical path

Hi, I'm creating a CMS that I would like to be plug-in based with different plugins handling different kinds of content. What I really want is to be able to load/unload plugins on the fly without restarting the application. What I did was to create an AppDomain that loaded the plugins and everything was great, until I tried to pass something else that strings between the domains...

Hi; My ASP.NET app (C# calling J# under .net 2.0) creates a png file in a subdirectory to display as part of the created page. However, the bitmap will not display due to a security violation. Everything is the default settings I believe. IIS is running under Local System. In IIS the DefaultAppPool is running under Network Service. Annonymous access uses the account IUSR_JASMINE (machine name is Jasmine).

Ok..this a rather odd question/problem. I haven't really found a straight forward answer to how to handle this scenario, so I hope someone here can help. Here it is: I have an application that allows users to log in. Each user can have multiple roles within the application. Each role allows the user to access different sections of the app and allows/denies them certain functionality.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
