Storing Shopping Items

What is the best way to store the items and quantities that customers have chosen across a session without using cookies
The customer does not need to login to do online shopping and users will be prompted to enter shipping information when they proceed to checkout

Any input will be very much appreciated! Thanks!

Limited functionality, but it's a start:

Do you really think paranoid people who don't trust your site to keep a
session cookie are going to give you their credit card? I know this is
probably a pointy-haird boss requirement, but I've never understood the
logic behind making an e-commerce site work without cookies...

If I am to use session variables to store the item numbers and quantities in the shopping cart, do people generally store them in an array as a session variable or one session variable refers to one item (i.e. the variable name will be the item number and the value of the variable will be the quantity)

Thanks

Typically, shopping carts add a single item at a time, so it's easy to prompt the user for information needed for the order, but what if the shopping cart needs to process thirty items at once? I am working on a shopping cart for a wholesale project and have run into trouble. Retailers log into the site, click a link to take them to the category, and get table with images and a checkbox. They click the checkbox of each item they want to...

I'm looking to implement some *minimal* shopping cart. I've looked at a few 3rd party packages, and they're all way too involved for what I need. So, I'm thinking it might make sense to roll my own. Before diving in though, I'd like to have any recommendations or suggestions from any of you who have done or seen "bare bones" shopping carts/store fronts. I'd like to integrate it with an existing SQL Server database that holds the customer,...

High Level Session Handling Design for a Shopping cart 0) What am I missing? 1) How does OSCommerce do it? I'm thinking about building a shopping cart from scratch, using a library of dynamic screen generation routines (already written) that take an XML stream as input from various "search for products" forms. That way I can run queries in one window and display the dynamic results in another. The searching functions will probably

Hi, I have an ASP .Net e-business site that is built using DNN 2.0. I am having troubles passing my shopping cart items to PayPal. I implemented a total paynow button, but it was not good enough for my customer. I found some PayPal ASP.Net controls to be used with .net studio. Basically, I want the user to be able to shop on my website, add items to my shopping cart and at the checkout to be taken to the PayPal website. I would like...

Hi there, i had a small project where i used a session to store the shopping cart, but if it times out, the user loses the cart. Then i thought instead of using session, i'll store the cart in a cookie, but cookie only stores string values, which makes it tricky to update/remove cart item values because i'd have to so substring, split, etc... What i'm thinking now is to store the cart in a database table, and just add a cookie with...

When the user clicks add item, it will be stored on some storage format, I dont know what is the term: temp/global DataSet, etc... and it should be read on other web-form to checkout the items... Can you point me to the right direction? Thank you very much!

I am writing a shopping cart app in asp.net. So far I created 2 classes, 1 for customer_info (name, address, email), 1 for product_info (prodname, price, description). As the shopper adds things to the cart and navigates throught the site to shop more, should I store this info in a session var? What is the typical way? Should I create another class for cart and store an array of product_info to keep track of what's in the cart,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
