Classic ASP, VBSCRIPT - SESSIONS - do all browsers support them?

Hello,

I have used SESSIONS on mission critical pages on my site, and if sessions
are not enabled / supoorted - these pages will fail.
When and why would a session fail? They do not store any info client side,
and rely on the server to store session objects in memory, am I correct?
Would security settings or privacy controls ever stop sessions working?

Which "popular" browsers dont support sessions?

Any help GREATLY appreciated!!!

Gary.

Sessions rely on the client supporting cookies. The server keeps track of
whose session is whose by a session cookie.

Here are all the possible reasons, at least that I know of, for session
cookies NOT working.

Here's one other reason that doesn't seem to be linked to on that page. One
of the funniest FAQs.

Hi all, At work we have 2 servers in a cluster for our web apps. One problem we have experienced (along with many others!) - is that if a user is logged into one of the applications on server a for example and it goes offline or fails their session is lost also - even though the application becomes available on server b. I have heard that it is possible to either exchange the sessions between

I need some advice. I was thinking about going with ASP.NET, but after reading this I don't think it would be right for me. http://www.powerasp.com/content/new/asp-and-aspdotnet.asp I have basic html skills and have never done any scripting. Do you guys think ASP.NET is that difficult to pick up or should I stick with classic ASP ?

I am working with Classes in classic VBScript on IIS 5.0 and am having a problem wrapping my head around a solution. I have a Class defining a record layout. (Bear with me here as I completely roach the OOP language.) The objects are columns of the record and each column is defined as its own Class. The record layout class has a method called Column(str) that returns the subclass's object. The subclass, in turn, has a Property Get (and...

What do y'all see for the future of ASP in light of MS decision to replace FrontPage with a new series of development tools? All of them mention ASP.NET, but no mention of the ASP I love. Mike

Hi All, I'm wondering if there is any way to access .NET assemblies from classic ASP/VBScript? We have a legacy app that was written using classic ASP and VBScript, and there's a new facility that one of our developers did in .NET that we'd like to use with our legacy app. Specifically, we have an online signup process that is a multi-page form written using classic ASP. When the user finally completes the signup process, we'd like to

My question is simple: How does one debug ASP Classic with Microsoft Visual Web Developer Express 2005 ("VWD")? Looming in the back of anyone's mind when you see a posting like this on any newsgroup is "didn't this guy read the docs?" Frankly, I "sort of did" a number of times. I feel the days of "things that are intuitively obvious" to use long ago gave way to "things that are clear after a 'Hello World'" example. And those

Hi All, I have been developing websites in classic asp using VB script for a long while now. Due to the fact that I also took a detour to developing ColdFusion, and the fact the companies I work(ed) for never had time or money for courses, I am now in the awkward position that I am -still- developing classic ASP. In it, I have become quite resourceful, I wrote a framework using WSC (windows scripting components) to separate logic from...

VS 2008 initially didn't debug classic ASP. SP1 fixes this in some ways. You can debug if you select the debug option to "Start Without Debugging, then either attach the debugger manually or place a stop directive in the code which ends up doing the same thing. The problem with this is that you can't debug browser side Javascript in the same debug run. You get a "The breakpoint will not currently be hit. The document is not loaded." if...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
