secure replication for remote locations

14 New Member
Ok so I got a db that I want to replicate and distribute to remote disconnected locations and then have the updated replicants returned to me which I will then synchronize with the master design db.

But the additional task has been added that no one should be able to export/import the db objects from or out of the replicates. The only way so far that I have been able to do that is by using user level security via the user-level-security-wizard, but then I can't open the replicant when I copy it to non-networked computer. i basically don't have the privilges to open the db when it is not on the computer or workgroup it was created on.

Is there any way to use user level security with replication on disconnected computers? I tried copying the system file and security.mdb file to the different computers, but that didn't work out.

I am using access 2003, but the db is in access 2000 format,

thanks in advance to anyone that can shed some light on this one

i figured it out.. you just have to "rejoin" the workgroup using the workgroup administrator under tools->security-> workgroup administrator.

this has to be don everytime you copy or move the database to a new computer
