Backup database and email through Code

1 New Member
Here is what I am trying to do....I am using Access 2007.
  1. I created a form (frmEmailBudget) with a button (btnCreateBudgetBackup). This button needs to generate a backup of the active database (Budget Tool.mdb) with all objects and data. The backup database file will be named “Budget_Backup_Date". The Date will be today's date (MM_DD-YY). I need the code to do this.
  2. The next event (through the same btnCreateBudgetBackup button) is to generate an ACCDE file from the backup named Budget_MM_DD_YY.
  3. The next event through a separate button (btnAllEmailBudget) needs to email this file to all users in the employee table with “Full” in the AccessRights field and an email in the Email field.
  4. Finally if I do not send the email to the group but I want to send it to individuals then I would click on the btnSingleEmailBudget to open up Outlook and send the attached budget to that individual.
The employee data is in the detail section of the form (employee ID, Email). Access rights are in the tblEmployees.AccessRights field. I hope this makes sense.

Bill, You seem to be under the impression that this is a code writing service. That's actually not what we're about. We provide assistance with ideas and help when people are stuck. It is actually against our whole ethos to provide full solutions for projects.
Have a look in FAQ - How to Ask a Question for the full explanation then come back to us when you've tried what you're doing and got stuck.

I can let you know that backing up an open database is not possible (Certainly any way that I know of won't work).
Emailing items, though possible, is fraught with issues. This is mainly down to the restrictions put on SMTP & MAPI because of all the virus writers out there, but there may be scope at least for that. Not an area I'm very familiar with though I'm afraid.
Application Automation may be a good point to start from.

Good luck.
