Where are the single quotes in my memo fields going?

I have a third party tool that creates an Access 2003 database. In one table, there is a memo field that stores HTML chunks. These chunks represent "content" from a web page.

If my content ,stored in the memo field, has a single quote character, the character is being removed when I look at the memo field.

For example, if I put grapefruit's into the memo field, I get grapefruits out. If can't, I get cant.

What is going on here?

If I just save and retrieve the data, the single quote stays put.

If I browse the table and look at the field, the single quote disappears.

I am very new to the world of Access, take it easy on me if this is a simple (stoopid) question ;)

What third party tool? This behavior is, I suspect, the result of something that it does in setting up/handling memo fields, as opposed to some inherent bahvior on Access' part. Maybe someone here has seen this type of behavior with memo fields, but I think you're going to have to go to the supplier of this third party tool for an answer.

What happens if you close the form and then re-open it? Are the single quotes present?

Definitely sounds like the third party program is removing the single quotes instead of replacing them with the proper HTML substitution. Let us know what Third party program this is and maybe we can get them to change the way they think about this.
