Linked Tables Problem

1
Only newish to Access but I have an issue with linking a table, I can do the link table function but for some reason i keep getting a #num error in certain fields. I believe this is because the first record it reads is text the future down its numbers and vice versa if I try the other way.

Can anyone please advise how I can have it read both text and number as it does if I only imported a table. I need to link so we can auto update the table.

Sry if this is a basic question but I'm at a loss

Thanks

If this is a temporary table from, eg. excel, try going into the design view and changing the type of this field to a number, that should convert any fields that are numeric. Be careful though if not all fields are numeric.
If you still have a problem, please tell me exactly where you are getting the error, ie. is it a query?
