Opening Excel with a query result

I'm building a 'search' form in my database which will be used to select
specific records from a table. I use input from the form controls to
build a query (with a variable number of columns) within a String
variable, but now I'm not sure the best way to use this string.

I know how to use it an a simple control like a combo or list box, but I
want to make the result saveable so I'm trying to launch it in Excel.
It's easy enough to open a spreadsheet, Access gives you a button to do
just that, but I don't know how to take my String, run the query, and
place the results into an opened spreadsheet. A lack of library support
doesn't help either. Any help would be appreciated, I figure it should
only be a line or two of code... unless the results have to be entered
cell by cell?
