I have query in MS Access that forms the basis of a merge in a word
document. When setting up the data source in word and selecting the
appropriate database, the query in question is not shown in the
available list of tables/queries - in fact a number of queries are not
shown. Why is this and what can I do to fix this problem. I note that
if I make the query a "make Table" query, the new table is available

Any query with ms-access functions can't be shown, since word cannot have
ms-access "run" code that is called from a query. So, any query that uses
ms-access built in functions will not work.

My solution is to write out the query data to a temp file, and then have
word merge that. This solution fixes this problem, and in addition fixes
things like security, or even a password on the database.

And, furthermore, my sample also allows you to merge the current record you
looking at with one line of code.
