Autonumber in a form creating duplicate values

6 New Member
Hello,

I have created a form that links with a table with the autonumber feature as its primary key. Whenever i create a new record in the form (using a command button ... i have disabled the navigation buttons) it creates a duplicate primary key value. i.e. it always starts back at 30.

If i go to the table it is temperamental. Sometimes it will create a new record with the next autonumber in the sequence, and the next time it resets to 30. I have tried copying and pasting everything, creating a brand new table, turning the autonumber feature on and off. The problem always returns.

I read about this problem on the microsoft site, they say it can come from compacting a db. However I have not done this (and i am 99% sure my associate has not either). Another post said that the problem could be in the form, however I have yet to find any reference to starting a new record at a set number in the form.

After I recreated the table, (copy pasted) the table always created a new record with the next autonumber, so half the problem is solved, but the form is the main issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Oxford
