THank you for your replay. I've been away for 2 days.
I have a text file which is a list of directories and their contents.
It would save me alot of time if I could just copy and paste or insert
them to the data base.
I have'nt used access for long time, but somehow it is stuck in my
mind that earlier version of access had this facility, to enter a
number of rows blank, but I can't find it in the current version.
Thnks again

Could you please guide me how to insert
500 rows into a table?
I have Access 2003.
What is the source of the data you plan to insert? That would certainly
affect the recommendation on how-to. (And I can't think of any reason to
insert empty rows into a table -- rows are created as the data is entered.)
