The normal course of action is to restore from backup, but if you'd had that
option, you wouldn't have reformatted the hard drive and installed a fresh
OS. If you didn't do a low-level format, then it's possible that the
encryption key may be retrieved through a data recovery service, but it'll
cost money.

I do this for friends, family, and paying customers. Are you saying that
you want to become a paying customer?

The accepted course of action when someone posts a question in a newsgroup
is that he returns to the newsgroup to check the answers, because the
answers are to be shared with everyone who is researching the same problem.
There just aren't enough volunteers to E-mail the answer to the same
question 2,739 times a month, plus the answers to some of the other 9,000+
questions that get posted in the Access newsgroups. I say "some" because no
one will know whether a question has already been answered if there's no
central communication point where everyone can see everyone else's answers
to the question, so answers will be concentrated on the interesting
questions and the easy questions, and most volunteers won't have any time
left over for the rest of the questions.

HTH.
