Permissions, sans system.mdw?

At my work, there are multiple MS Access forms being used, all linked
to the SYSTEM.MDW file. I, however, need to also create a form which
will be distributed to more than just my coworkers; some of these I
will not even have direct contact with.

What I need is a means to set myself and a few others (that I do work
with) as Admins, and anyone else who gets the form as a User. I have
set the Users group to have permission to open/run the forms, and I am
aware that the Users group means everyone. However, I have tried to
open the forms as a User and was denied permission. Is there a way to
set these permissions? Can permissions be set without the use of a
SYSTEM.MDW file?

Go to Microsoft's site and search for the Access security whitepaper. That
will explain Access security. It's a rather involved process. (sorry, don't
have a link off hand).

Also, in case you are... DON'T use the existing system.mdw. Create a new
workgroup using the workgroup administrator. Otherwise anyone can access
your database.

Did you also set permissions for the underlying data behind the form?

I've set permissions for "Admins" and "Users" groups for all tables,
queries, and forms. The more I'm reading, though, the worse an idea
this seems to be. And yes, we are using system.mdw here at work, but
none of the apps relying on it are distributed. I've tried to create a
new workgroup file, but I never get the option (it's disabled in the
User Level Security Wizard).

I'll look for that access security whitepaper. If you happen to come
across the link, I'd appreciate the post, along with any other advice
you might have on this. Thanks!
