Make-table sort error in Access 2002

I have a client who has just migrated from Access 97 to Access XP. He
uses make-table queries to sort tables by two fields (text & double)
before exporting the records for another application.

In Access XP (SP2) the make-table sort works correctly on the first
sort field (text), but the second field (double) is not in sequence.
Oddly, when the make-table query is viewed in datasheet view, the sort
is correct. It's a large table (206K records).

This problem doesn't exist in Access 2003.

I haven't been able to find any references in Knowledgebase. If anyone
has an answer, I'd appreciate it.

If you can't get it to work that way, create a query with your proper
sort order, and then export from there. Depending on sort orders on
tables is dodgy. data in tables is inherently unordered, so using a
query will force a specific sort order and will always work.

Great advice - it worked. I had already tried it but had hit
ctrl-break because the export wizard window didn't come up - it just
takes a lot longer than when exporting from a table in this enormous
database. Thanks for the reminder about tables being inherently
unordered as well.
