VBasic window opens with references grayed out

We have an access application that works without problems in other
computers. We installed it on a new one - with office2003, Windows XP
SP2.
When trying to open it, I get an error message:
"Can't find project or library"
and the basic windows opens up with the code.
The "references" in menu is greyed out, and empty.
it seems to have decided also that it is a project, I don't understand
why.

I have searched, and found that after getting
"Can't find project or library"
I have to fix the references, but "references" just won't work

Usually, if the references are greyed out, the code is running or stopped in
the debugger. You need to reset the code, so that it is completely idle.

As for the "Project" terminology, that's what your collection of VBA code
behind the database is called. It's a Project.

Steve, thanks for your help.
Since I had some code with autoexec, it went to the debugger
immediately.
After stopping temporarily the autoexec, I could go to references and
fix the missing one.
Before asking here, I lost a whole day reinstalling stuff, searching
for an answer everywhere in books and internet, etc.
