Preventing Users From Viewing A Record That Is Being Edited By Another User

Is there a way to do this. Currently, you can have multiple users
editing the same record and not until they try to save it does it tell
you that the record is being edited by another person. I want to make
the record 'non-viewable' is it's already being edited by another user.
Can anyone help?

Just set the default record locks under Tools|Options to "edited
record" or do the same for each form's "record locks" property. They'll
still see the record, but they will be prevented from modifying
anything while another user is editing.

Not sure if there is a way to enumerate the current locks in Access,
which would allow you to filter out the records being edited, though
that would be a relatively trivial matter using a SQL server backend.

The problem with that is they don't know that can't edit it until they
have edited it. They don't get error message until they try to save
it. That to me is irritating. I would rather have them not see the
record when someone else is already editing it. Any thoughts?
