Can't Compact DataBase

I have split an Access 2000 database which is about 25 mb (lots of memo
fields) into 2 DBs by making two copies of the DB and deleting the (large)
table from one of the copies and linking that DB to the DB which still
contains the table - ie I now have:
DB # 1 which contains the table, and
DB # 2 which contains all the queries and forms but no table - it is linked
to the table in DB # 1.

I expected that when I 'compacted & repaired' DB # 2 that DB # 2 would have
become much smaller (since it no longer contains the data table, but only a
link) - but DB # 2 only reduces to about 23 mb (virtually no difference).

Is there any way I can compact DB # 2 so that its size is reduced
substantially?
(or is there any way to export all the forms and queries to a new DB all at
once 'in bulk' instead of exporting these objects one at a time
individually, since there are dozens of forms and queries to export).

Thanks for any help.

Rick,

Create a new, blank database. Select File / Get external data / Import
and select your DB #2.
Go to the queries tab, click on select all, and repeat this for the
other tabs (except tables). Click on OK to start the import.
