Updated database, but autonumber?

Hi,

I created a database not so long back but now I am offering a better version
with new features. I am having some difficulty thinking of a method to keep
the data within the database (customer details etc/tables) without resetting
any Order Numbers (AutoNumber).

Problem is the new Customer Orders table has new fields and an ID AutoNumber
field. If I were to import the old customer details data into the new table,
then the autonumbers would be reset on the old data.

Please note this is using MDE's

Could anyone offer me any help?

thank you...

Kind Regards...

Nick,
Mde is no problem here, as you are able yo make query's
DON't just cut and paste the data .. but
If you use an appendquery your autonumbers will remain the same.
Last week I had to do the same at a client's office.

Rather then importing the old data into new tables, change the old
table's structure via SQL commands. See Help on the "ALTER TABLE" SQL
command.
